Our founder, Simon Kissel, describes himself as a hardcore nerd. He has in-depth expertise in all areas of hardware and software development. Simon can draw on a team of experienced developers who can provide detailed assistance with technical problem analysis and contribute their experience.

Embedded Hardware development & The Internet of things

We develop custom electronic circuits and printed circuit boards. We specialize in the development of motherboards based on x86 and ARM CPUs. We also have extensive experience in connecting various bus types such as PCIe and USB. However, our greatest wealth of experience lies in the field of network technologies. Whether LTE/5G mobile communications or Ethernet, our understanding is deep and our circuits are optimized through and through.

Nerdtronics supports you in the development of intelligent devices, in the transformation of analog products into digital ones using sensors, firmware, and IoT platforms, and in the creation of infrastructures (embedded, cloud-based, and on mobile devices) for customer-specific IoT solutions.

PCB Design & Hardware prototyping

Nerdtronics offers full support in the field of electronics development: We cover the entire process from the conception of your ideas to the final product ready for series production. Depending on your needs, we offer the entire development process up to series production, or take on sub-projects and ensure the further development or series optimization of your existing products. Our range of services also includes the revision of an already developed product, such as the redesign of a printed circuit board or the modification of assemblies.

The development process we cover includes circuit board layout, component definition, also with regard to cost optimization and availability, product testing, mechanical design, housing, control panel, sensors, and drives—in other words, all steps up to the finished assembly or device. This also includes checking and complying with all guidelines relating to CE or other standards.

Nerdtronics has extensive know-how in the field of system-oriented software development. So we don't just supply you with a bare circuit board, but also the software necessary for operation. Whether development at the Linux kernel level, the control of microcontrollers in C or assembler – we cover everything.

In addition to PCB design, Nerdtronics offers the development of mechanical and electromechanical components and assemblies. Development is carried out on state-of-the-art CAD systems and takes into account the relevant standards and guidelines. We develop housings based on thin sheet metal or customer-specific extruded profiles. Whether cooling by convection, housing fans or by integrating the housing and heat sink – depending on your requirements, we design housings for use in offices, outdoors or in vehicles.

Custom mainboards for x86 and ARM platforms - custom Raspberry PI CM4/CM5 carrier boards and own inhouse modular Intel 64 Bit x86 platform for custom industrial and embedded systems

Although there are a large number of ready-made carrier boards available for the CM4, in many cases it makes more sense to develop a custom board for your specific application. This allows you to tailor the features and dimensions of the board to your application rather than the other way around.

Our company has already developed numerous carrier boards for the CM4. These include a tiny carrier board used for 4G/5G communication in civilian drones, CM4 boards for Internet routers, and industrial applications.

Thanks to our many years of experience, we are familiar with all the problems and quirks of the CM4 and can therefore develop perfectly functioning motherboards very quickly.

But sometimes a Raspberry Pi just doesn't cut it. If you want to base your project on a real PC mainboard, we have you covered, too. We have our own custom mainboard design based on a recent Intel SoC. The mainboard is modular, and can be extended it lots of ways. Do you need 8 network ports? Integrated WiFi Access Point? Multiple Video outputs? Video capture inputs? 5G modem(s)? Custom system cooling? Our platform provides all of this and so much more.
